I’ve been sewing since I was a little girl, making many unsatisfactory outfits for my dolls. As a freshman in high school, I took a semester of Home Ec from Sister Rachel at a girls’ academy, and that constituted my only formal instruction. Other than that, I am entirely self-taught, starting out on my mother’s very temperamental Singer sewing machine and moving on through a similarly obstreperous Kenmore for the years when I was sewing clothes out of necessity for my children. When I began sewing for fun for the grandkids, my husband bought me a very nice Brother machine and I thought I was in heaven. I now own that machine, a Brother serger, and a Brother PE 770 embroidery machine. I sew primarily for my grandchildren and their dolls, and have acquired a number of dolls of my own as models.
In the coming months, my plan is to post pictures of my current sewing projects, and perhaps descriptions of any original touches or modifications I have added. I hope my friends and family and sewing friends who stumble upon this page enjoy this blog.
